The Mulberry Handbags line was formed by Roger Saul in 1971, when it soon became famed for its luxury leather goods.
Roger Saul stayed on top of Mulberry’s line until he ended up battling with his partners from Singapore, the Ongs. In what might not be so crazy in the fashion world, Mr. Saul lost control of his own company over a two year battle with the Ongs.
I guess that’s what happens when you don’t manage to keep a majority of your own shares!
On through the 80s, Mulberry handbags and travel luggage enjoyed a strong following with the jet set. Somehow, Mulberry lost its steam in the 1990s, watching many of its previously loyal customers hop over to more hip Gucci and Prada.
Suddenly, Mulberry was for your grandmother, not for you.
Stuffy. Dowdy.
But in the last couple of years, Mulberry has shown that it can not only keep up with its competition but continue to innovate and break style rules to come up with some edgy pieces. Still, for the most part, if you’re looking for the perfect handbag to take on your holiday to the country, then Mulberry has you covered. English Casual. Just look for the little mulberry tree logo.
The current Spring/Summer Mulberry Handbags lines include the following collections: Blenheim, Roxanne, and Bayswater. All three lines include a sumptuous leather finish, fine tailoring, and strong silhouettes. Colors this season include beautiful pastels such as aqua, pink, blue, and white. They also have included sumptuous dark colors such as chocolate, oak brown, and black.
The Mulberry Handbags Blenheim collection harkens back to another century where you had explorers and travelers, a time before phones and TV. You’ll find large bags with a travel influence. Belt buckle closures and brass hardware. Some of the bags have pebbled leather finishes. The shoulder strap handbag costs $750.00. You can also get smaller accessories to match (heart key ring, coin purse or cosmetic bag).
The Mulberry Handbags Roxanne collection is punchier. You still have the belt buckle closures and pebbled leather but now you get some louder colors like a red. You’ll also find way more brass riveting that you’ll even need but it sure does look good. For a large satchel, be prepared to pay $1120.00.
The Mulberry Handbags Bayswater line is much more refined. Minimal hardware, leather handles, and no pockets on the outside making for a very polished silhouette. A satchel will run you $950.00. You can also find a jewelry roll and a handbag mirror to match your new satchel.

And then, of course, there’s the color palette for this season’s handbag collection. Think of those cool fall and winter days, and imagine the sights and smells of the seasons: warm cocoa, jewel-toned aubergine leaves, and nutty oak. Then splash in some bright bursts borrowed from a tropical island getaway in February: punchy fuschia, soft pale apple, and pink. Throw in a few patches of denim in the spirit of practicality and ruggedness, too, while you’re at it. (Anyway, isn’t denim the new black?) Mulberry’s Autumn/Winter 2005 handbag line draws on this eclectic mix of cozy meets sassy, of please-pass-the-apple-cider-but-first-spike-it-with-spiced-rum hominess.
