The Karen Nepacena range of handbags, as well as arriving in a number of funky and colorful designs, bear one great fact. They are all made in the USA. (Moves us to think that ‘Support Home Bags’ should be a new slogan for a fashion led support group for USA based handbags!)
Karen, a native of the Bay Area, spent the early part of her life training to be a professional ballet dancer. Indeed she was so successful as a dancer that she spent a number of years performing with a variety of companies across the country.
With an eye to the future she quit dancing in 1997 and studied for her business degree at Northeastern Uni in Boston, Massa.
It was whilst she was studying at uni that she developed a touch for designing and creating handbags, encouraged by her mom Lita who taught her the basics during vacations. From simple beginnings Karen developed a style of simple, colorful designs that captured many peoples attention and interest, leading to her items being sold via a number of boutiques in Boston.
Demand grew and as she expanded her range, so did her range of stockists increase with select retailers selling her Nepacena designer handbags across the country.
Early on in her handbags career, Karen designed handbags with names chosen for those who have helped her through life in some form or another as a form of tribute. With time also spent in Italy, learning the finer details of design, each handbag is a vibrant wash of color and form, blending elegance and spontaneity together into handbags that evoke the personalities of those after who the bags are named.
In the range currently there are four handbags, one in each style. Priced reasonably, it’s no surprise that they sell so well.
Current bags within the range are the Lola Bowling Bag ($160), the Lucie Handbag ($88), the Gabrielle Hobo Bag ($130) and the new Adina Tote ($120).
